Games

Games are fun! Ai-Kon's all about doing fun stuff, so it's only natural to hold events that pit attandees against each other for the sake of having a good time. Test your skills and knowledge in all of the contests and games we have to offer.

Games Room

Everyone's certainly familiar with the electronic entertainment that almost everyone likes to spend at least a little time with these days. This past year has been a great time to be a gamer, with the final release of the remainder of the next-generation consoles, and we're glad to say we've got them all for you guys to check out. We've got stations lined up with the latest technology for those of you who've yet to try it out.

In order to fit in with the general theme of an anime convention, we'll also have several machines set up for import games brought over from Japan. There are many novel, unique titles that never seem to make it outside of Japan, so we hope to bring some awareness to those who are curious. New to Ai-Kon this year is the inclusion of doujin-soft - games made by small studios comprised of devoted fans. Usually made by normal folks on their free time, they make up for their lack of budget with an uncompromising attention to detail. This shows just how much care they put into their work, and the end result can rival games made by large companies.

And, of course, how fun would a games room be without a little bit of competition? Several tournaments will be drafted up in your favorite games, where you'll go against all comers for pride and prizes. We'll be running the gamut of genres so that no matter what you're into, there'll be something you're good enough at to have a chance to aim for the top. If you like fighting games, there should be a multitude of choices for you ranging from Guilty Gearto Smash Brothers. Music's more your thing? Show off your crazy legwork in Dance Dance Revolution, or if you're more of a sit-down-and-relax kind of person, perhaps Guitar Hero is for you.

We always value your input, and it'll be you guys playing the games, so drop by our gaming forums to tell us what you'd like!
