7. The Knight – Solution
In this puzzle, descriptions of events the Knight Goddard will be attending are given to the Heroes. From this, Heroes need to recognize that the events are actual panels, showings, or events happening at Ai-Kon 2019 that weekend. By reading the description of each show, the Heroes can correctly identify what event Goddard’s assistant is describing, and at what time they’re occurring. The descriptions, events, and the right times to be identified are as follows:
# | Description | Event | Time |
1 | So, on Friday afternoon, Goddard will be learning to use a weapon called a “shinai” in the first of two sessions. | Kendo 101 (first session) | 4:45 |
2 | Early on Sunday, like in the morning, he’ll be watching a show about the son of a ninja. | Boruto: Naruto the Movie | 10:45 |
3 | Midday sometime on Friday, Goddard will be attending a panel to improve his knowledge on using needles, thread, and fabric properly. | Sewing Tips and Tricks | 12:45 |
4 | Afternoon on Friday, he’ll be watching a show about three women fighters from space coming to Earth trying to find a princess. | Sailor Moon Sailor Stars: Introducing the Sailor Starlights | 2:30 |
5 | People will be playing rock-paper-scissors to win prizes for Goddard’s appearance on Saturday afternoon. | One-shot Janken Tournament | 9:15 |
6 | Here, at this time, Goddard will be able to meet you. I don’t remember when that time is exactly but it’s sometime in between 12 and 6 PM. | ||
7 | On Sunday afternoon, he’ll be watching a show that’s about some sort of “final assignment”? I think? | Hunter x Hunter: the Last Mission | 2:30 |
8 | Right around Sunday Morning, Goddard will be watching people try to win at a popular fighting game. | Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament | 10:30 |
9 | Ending this list is an appearance at an event about handling sharp weapons for an old time period, but fictional. | Swordmanship for Medieval Fantasy | 10:00 |
In addition to identifying the right events and their times, the Heroes also need to look at the descriptions and realize that the first letter of each description spells something out. We’ve highlighted it for you here:

The first letter of each line spells out the word SEMAPHORE, which is a type of code that can be found in the Tome of Knowledge provided to each Hero.
Each time can be converted into its analog form like in a traditional long hand and short hand clock. For example, 12:00’s analog form is when the short and the long hand both point up on a clock.
By converting each time into its analog form, Heroes get a letter in Semaphore. For example, for #8, 10:30 has its short hand pointing to the top-left, and the long hand points to the bottom. This looks like the letter “C” in Semaphore. The times, and Semaphore letters are as follows:
# | Description | Time | Letter |
1 | So, on Friday afternoon, Goddard will be learning to use a weapon called a “shinai” in the first of two sessions. | 4:45 | S |
2 | Early on Sunday, like in the morning, he’ll be watching a show about the son of a ninja. | 10:45 | O |
3 | Midday sometime on Friday, Goddard will be attending a panel to improve his knowledge on using needles, thread, and fabric properly. | 12:45 | P |
4 | Afternoon on Friday, he’ll be watching a show about three women fighters from space coming to Earth trying to find a princess. | 2:30 | E |

6 | Here, at this time, Goddard will be able to meet you. I don’t remember when that time is exactly but it’s sometime in between 12 and 6 PM. | ? | ? |
7 | On Sunday afternoon, he’ll be watching a show that’s about some sort of “final assignment”? I think? | 2:30 | E |

The letters spell out SOPER_ECT. By knowing that Goddard likes to say a two-word phrase in the mirror every morning, Heroes can identify that the phrase is “SO PERFECT”, and that the missing letter is F.
In Semaphore, the letter F looks like the time 3:30 or 6:15. By knowing that the time is between 12 and 6 PM in Goddard’s assistant’s description, the answer then is 3:30.
